On May 4, 2023, 6 sets of GLT4000-7VMY mobile lighting towers were shipped to an engineering company in Papua New Guinea for use in port lighting applications.

The customer selected the GLT4000-7VMY mobile lighting tower to provide flexible and reliable lighting for port operations, where sufficient illumination is important for nighttime work, equipment movement, loading activities and general site safety.

Papua New Guinea has a predominantly tropical climate, with high temperatures, high humidity and significant rainfall in many regions. For outdoor applications such as ports, mobile lighting equipment needs to provide dependable operation while offering the flexibility to be repositioned according to changing work areas and lighting requirements.

Project Overview

The 6 GLT4000-7VMY mobile lighting towers were supplied for a port project in Papua New Guinea. Ports often operate beyond normal daylight hours, making reliable temporary and supplementary lighting essential for maintaining efficient operations after dark.

The GLT4000-7VMY features a 7-metre vertical manual lifting mast and four 1000W metal halide lamps, providing a practical lighting solution for large outdoor working areas such as port yards, storage areas and access zones.

GENLITEC POWER supplied the GLT4000-7VMY mobile lighting towers, powered by the YANMAR 3TNV77 diesel engine and equipped with a STAMFORD PI 044E alternator.

With 7 kW generator power and four 1000W metal halide lamps, the lighting towers provide independent lighting capability without relying on the port's main electrical supply. The vertical mast allows the lights to be elevated above the working area, helping provide broader illumination.

The mobile design also allows the lighting towers to be repositioned when required, making them suitable for changing work locations within a port or other large outdoor working environment.
