Project Overview
On September 18, 2025, a well-known supermarket in Papua New Guinea selected GENLITEC POWER for the supply of a GSC300S5 silent diesel generator set. The generator set was supplied as a reliable standby power solution to support the supermarket during utility power interruptions.
Papua New Guinea has a predominantly hot and humid tropical climate, with high temperatures and humidity throughout the year. Many areas also experience heavy seasonal rainfall, creating demanding environmental conditions for electrical and power generation equipment.
For commercial facilities such as supermarkets, reliable backup power is particularly important. Power interruptions can affect refrigeration, lighting, retail equipment, security systems and other essential electrical loads, making a dependable standby generator an important part of the site's power infrastructure.
Customer Requirement
The customer needed a dependable standby power system capable of supporting the supermarket's essential electrical loads during mains power interruptions. The solution also needed to be suitable for the local tropical environment and integrate with the supermarket's existing electrical system.
The main requirements included:
○ 240 kW / 300 kVA prime power capacity
○ 264 kW / 330 kVA standby power capacity
○ 50Hz, 240/415V three-phase power supply
○ Silent type enclosure for reduced operating noise
○ Automatic transfer capability between mains and generator power
○ External 630A ATS for integration with the supermarket's electrical system
GENLITEC POWER Solution
GENLITEC POWER supplied the GSC300S5 silent diesel generator set, powered by a SDEC SC12E420D2 diesel engine and equipped with a GENLITEC S314G240 alternator.
The generator set provides 240 kW / 300 kVA prime power and 264 kW / 330 kVA standby power at 240/415V, 50Hz, providing sufficient capacity for the supermarket's three-phase electrical system.
The silent enclosure helps reduce operating noise in a commercial environment, while the generator package is suitable for reliable standby operation under the hot and humid conditions commonly experienced in Papua New Guinea.
For automatic transfer between utility and generator power, the system was supplied with a 630A Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS). The external ATS allows the standby generator to be integrated with the supermarket's main electrical distribution system and provides automatic load transfer when required.
